God's Food Pantry

God’s Food Pantry is a non-profit organization located in a church at 11th & Ohio Streets. It originated in 1984 by three Sisters of the Precious Blood. Many Catholic parishes, including Holy Spirit, provide donations for God’s Food Pantry, a division of Holy Savior Catholic Church in Wichita. The Pantry feeds about 1,000 needy people a month. Food is distributed on the 2nd and 4th Wednesdays of every month. Non-perishable items are needed including dry beans, pasta, rice, peanut butter, canned goods, and hygiene items. All parishioners are encouraged to donate items. Specific volunteers are utilized to deliver donations directly to the food bank. A collection box is located on the west end of the hospitality area of the church.

Harbor House Volunteer

Harbor House was established in 1992 as an agency of Catholic Charities, offering a safe shelter and support services for battered women and their children. Women can stay for 30 days or longer, giving them safe harbor… a place to get away, recover, assess their options and move on to a healthier lifestyle. Volunteers can help by working with the children (especially on Tuesday evenings), running errands, cooking meals, taking inventory of donated items, cleaning rooms, providing transportation, or just spending time with the women and listening to their story. Also welcome are donations of food, personal hygiene supplies, cleaning supplies, and monetary gifts.
