5th and 6th Grade News In Religion we have been studying about creation and the environment. The students have researched ways to help the ecosystem because it is our responsibility to care for the world God created for us.We will soon began to study the seven sacraments beginning with Baptism. Daily Oral Language is part of what the students engage in to practice grammar, capitalization, and punctuation skills. The students also write in a daily journal. This encourages them to work independently and creatively. Also in English they have been learning step by step the way to write not just a good , but a great paragraph. If you asked the 5th grade what comes to mind when they think of Science, they would probably say mold. We have been “trying” to grow mold on bread, tomato, and orange peel over the last two weeks. Some of the jar growth has remained about the same so we may try letting in a little more air. We have read several interesting stories in Reading: “The Wise Old Woman” and “The Voyage of the Dawn Treader”. The students have also learned how to symbolize how to compare/contrast, make inferences, and cause/effect relationships. Europe,Asia,South America, Australia: What do all of these have in common? We know these are all continents of the world. Each student has chosen a different country and is researching information about it. When they have finished their booklets I’m sure we will learn a lot of new information. Mrs.Kisley
